Today was one of those mornings.
Some mornings don’t wait on you.
They grab you by the collar and say, “Let’s go.”
Today was one of those mornings.
I woke up at six thinking I had a nine o’clock meeting. So I started my day like I always do washing the dishes I should’ve finished last night, straightening up the floor, getting my space right before I step out into the world. That’s just how I’m built. If my house isn’t in order, my mind isn’t either.
But life had a different plan.
That nine o’clock meeting?
Turns out it was at eight and it was always at eight.
So now I’m rushing: jumping in the shower, halfway finishing a report, sliding into the car at 7:41 with no printed documents, and trying to figure out whether the meeting is at City Hall or online because I never got the WebEx link.
And yet somehow… I’m still moving forward.
By the time I pulled up to City Hall, I did what I always do took the stairs.
Five flights.
Just like I did back in 2009 when I first walked into that building.
Even if I’m running behind, even if I’m out of breath, I take those stairs.
It’s a reminder of where I started… and where I’m still climbing.
But here’s the twist:
I get to the second floor breathing heavy but focused and the doors are locked.
City Hall doesn’t open until 9 o’clock now.
So security looks at me like, “You can’t come in yet.”
And I’m standing there thinking,
“But they told me to be here at 8.”
It’s always something.
But that’s life.
You plan for the smooth route and end up on the stairs.
You show up early and still get told to wait.
You prepare for one schedule and life hands you another.
And still… you keep moving.
But the truth is, today wasn’t just about the rush it was about the three women who helped save the day for 6311.
The first woman?
I saw her coming in to work around 7:50 a.m.
Right place, right time.
She helped clear things up, and later I sent her a text just to say thank you.
No names just gratitude.
The second woman?
She wasn’t there today
but she still helped me behind the scenes.
Quiet support.
Solid guidance.
One of those people who doesn’t need to show up physically to make a difference.
And the third woman?
I saw her as I was leaving City Hall.
She’s the one who started everything in motion.
All I said was a simple “thank you,”
and she knew exactly what I meant.
Three different women.
Three different moments.
Three different kinds of help.
No names but every one of them made today possible.
And that’s the thing about this journey:
Some days are smooth, some days are chaos, but every day teaches you something about who you’re becoming.
Today reminded me that preparation matters
but grace matters too.
Because even when the schedule flips on you, even when the morning runs faster than you do, you learn to adjust, to breathe, to show up anyway.
And that’s what Love Geno is all about.
It’s the story of showing up.
It’s the story of becoming.
It’s the story of turning everyday moments even the rushed, breathless, “they-locked-the-door-on-me” moments into something worth toasting to.
So here’s to mornings that push you, shape you, humble you, and keep you grounded.
Here’s to the people who show up in different ways at exactly the right moment.
Here’s to becoming the person you said you would be, even on the days when the clock and the building aren’t opening for you yet.
its now 9:30am off to my next meeting
Love Geno
