Paying Attention

Paying Attention

Paying Attention”

I used to think love had to be something big.

A grand gesture.
A special trip.
An expensive gift.
Something everybody could see.

But the older I get, the more I understand that some of the strongest forms of love are quiet.

It’s remembering what someone told you.
Noticing when their smile is a little different.
Listening when they need to talk.
Knowing when they don’t want to talk at all.
Making time, even when life is busy.

Sometimes romance is simply paying attention.

Because anyone can buy flowers. Anyone can pour a glass of wine. But when you truly pay attention to the person sitting across from you, that moment becomes more valuable than anything money can buy.

So pour the wine. Put the phone down. Look across the table. Listen.

Sometimes the greatest gift you can give someone is letting them know:

“I see you. I hear you. And right now, you have my attention.”

That’s love.
